There are several types of dramatic atmospheric lights. They can be sunrise, as seen in this image, sunset, storms, or clouds. This photographer is particularly fond of sunrises. The warm tones and the promise of a new day are very comforting. To capture a sunrise great care must be taken in finding the location and timing. There are several internet resources available that describe time and direction of the sunrise. Using google maps to scout locations is great way to get an idea of what to expect and preplan composition.
