Panned action is a technique used to capture a fast moving subject moving perpendicular to the photographer. An excellent technique when shooting action and wildlife that ads an element of motion instead of stopping the action. To accomplish this, the photographer will need to use a slower shutter speed and numerically higher apertures. As the subject approaches, the photographer should focus on the subject and follow it while capturing images. The horizontal movement of the camera is what generates the tell tale horizontal streaks surrounding the subject.
